MY STORY

Een-FieldClose1-WEB.jpg

I grew up in a very musical family living in various places - the East Coast, the West, even Germany. My folks met in a choir, Mom was a piano/voice teacher, and musical instruments were part of everyday life in our house - everyone played one or more. Music hit me in an emotional way pretty early on.  My dad showed me the first steps on his guitar when I was 11 years old, after I'd done piano and drums lessons for a few years.  After college, I took off for Hawaii and worked for many years in the corporate world, while also pursuing my passion for music.  I eventually played with different performing artists there, including Johnny Helm, Bruce and Jake Shimabukuro, and John Cruz. My recorded work and compositions can be found on many CD's with a variety of artists and on my own indie label.

I've had the pleasure of performing around the USA and in Japan. I've played solo for decades, backed up established artists, and I've also had the good fortune to have been a member of bands opening shows for the likes of Jackson Browne, Gregg Allman, Jack Johnson, Gavin DeGraw and Aimee Mann during my Hawaii days.

After moving to Southern Oregon, I reconnected with music as a career.  I've been the local opening act at the renowned Britt Festival for artists such as America, Chicago, Natalie Merchant, Boz Scaggs, Jake Shimabukuro, Matt Nathanson and Leo Kottke (as a solo act and with my band Jeff K & OverTones). Weekly performances at our beautiful local wineries here have been my focus for the past several years, and writing music is still a key passion.  Looking forward to the next recording project, always!
